Desire Plus Concentration

Sometimes life seems like a candy store (if you like candy).  What I mean is…sometimes life is showing me so many fun and awesome opportunities all at once and I can’t choose.  I want them all.  Years ago, with one wrong step, my whole life changed.  I injured my ankle to the point of losing a 10 year career.  I didn’t realize then that in just a few short years I would look at that day as a blessing.  This turn of events led me down the road of self discovery and life discovery.  Instead of just showing up and living a boring life, I began to open my mind to other things.  My world became full of color, music, laughter and love.  I became interested in learning all I could about so many subjects.  I called myself an education junkie.  Just couldn’t buy enough books or read enough or take enough courses!  In all this fun, now 10 years later, I realize that I didn’t have enough focused concentration on any ONE thing long enough to be successful at it.  Which…led to discouragement.  I thought I’d learn to be a real estate investor, a life coach, an eBay seller, a network marketer, an internet marketer, a seminar leader, an author, speak several languages, and…the list goes on.  I wondered why I wasn’t successful.  I knew I had the skills, the personality, the passion, the good heart, the education…what more did I need?  How come I couldn’t figure it out and make anything work?  Aahhh.  Finally asking the right question.  This week I learned:  “Momentary enthusiasm is of no value; it is only with unbounded self-confidence that the goal is reached.  Ease and perfection are gained by repetition.  All mental discovery and attainment are the result of desire plus concentration.”  I have been so scattered in my interests, my desires and have not given the focused concentration on any one thing long enough.  Continuous concentration.  To be successful it is truly important to have a burning desire, a definite major purpose and a clear plan to carry it out.

Thought=Circumstances

Hey.  42 years of thinking one way doesn’t change overnight!  Or, can it?  “To control thought is to control circumstances, conditions, environment and destiny.”  Ever wake up and feel defeated before the day begins?  Have you ever read all the books, attended all the seminars, did everything that you thought you should, only to still find things aren’t going as you had hoped?  I was pondering this for myself.  I kept thinking of the things I had tried that didn’t work, the events in my life that I didn’t like and didn’t want to repeat; the stories of what happened, what was and what could’ve been.  Yuck!  Doesn’t make for a very motivating day.  Anyway, I bring this up not to bore you with stories of woe, but to inspire you with words of simple wisdom.  I’m not sure how many times a thought has to be drilled into the subconscious or the conscious for that matter, before it takes hold and is realized and acted upon, but I’m getting it.  My dream had lost its excitement.  My life had lost its drive.  Thank God I still had such a wonderful man in my life whom I love to be around and who I laugh daily with! Why did this happen to me?   Where had my 42 years of thinking taken me?  Down the road of failure once more.  With thoughts of regret or failure…what was I attracting to me?  I sat down this week and looked at my dream, visualized it in every detail, allowed the feelings of joy and love to flow through me.  It was a huge makeover and makes me feel like running a marathon.  I put a rubber band on my wrist and will snap it every time I think a thought that doesn’t feel good and isn’t aligned with my definite purpose in life.  I am working on the correct ‘mental state’ and ‘correct thinking’ so that I will live my dreams.

Highest Happiness

Have you ever wondered what underlying factor exists between our ability to be completely happy in all areas of our lives and being miserable, sad or hopeless?    In this week’s lesson we learn that our highest happiness will be attained through our understanding of and conscious cooperation with natural laws.  ‘Difficulties and obstacles will continue to come until we absorb their wisdom and gather from them the essentials of further growth.’  I certainly believe in learning lessons from everything that happens to us.  I’m just wondering if there isn’t something more.  When I coached young adults, I would ask them what they wanted to do, what are they passionate about?  Many didn’t have any idea what they were interested in or what they felt any kind of emotion around.  I would say that our ability to be happy, to be successful, to be miserable, etc. is all connected to our ability to improve our emotional state.  First, of course, we need to recognize what that emotional state is and once we’ve identified it…we can ask ourselves, “What just happened that has made me feel this way?”  At that point, I can see that we are able to learn the lesson, apply it’s teachings and make a new and better choice for ourselves.  What’s the famous quote?  “Many people lead lives of quiet desperation.”  I believe many people haven’t discovered their passion, what brings them joy.  I believe in everything this lesson is about.  “If we wish to express abundance in our lives, we can afford to think abundance only, we can afford to entertain only desirable thoughts.”  SO…how do you help people find within themselves that spark, that passion, that interest for life where energy and happiness flows?  I know that once that is discovered, we are able to hold those thoughts and that vision close throughout the day and eventually will see it become a reality.  Were you someone who came into this life naturally happy, or did you have to discover your path?  I’d love to hear from you.

Curse or Cure?

“We find that every man is the reflection of the thought that  he has entertained through his lifetime.”   Hey, if what you see is something pleasing to you…than, no problem.  Keep thinking what you’re thinking.  What if we look around at our lives and aren’t impressed? Is it too late?  Are we doomed to continue to live this way and will reap the same consequences?  The great news is this..since your life is a reflection of the thoughts you have been thinking…if you change those thoughts NOW and consistently from NOW…you will begin to see a reflection of those NEW thoughts and NEW outcomes.  What is required is entering into a discipline that will bring about a radical change in your life.  You must do so deliberately and must allow nothing to interfere with your decision.  That’s GREAT news, isn’t it?  We can begin at once to create a new person.  We can, through the power of our thoughts and the focus of our thoughts, change all circumstances in our lives.  No…things don’t happen immediately…especially if we’ve been used to stinkin’ thinkin’ for 30 years or so.  I guess it could happen all at once…if you believed it could.  I still believe things will just get better and better every day and that one day, my stinkin’ thinkin’ of the past will be long gone and I’ll have the beautiful life I’ve been thinking of.  When we remember that we are a reflection of our thoughts; that our outer world is a reflection of our inner world…we can no longer be a victim.  It is time to step up, take charge of our lives and manifest the lives we have been put here to live.  Yippee!!  Let’s celebrate!!

The Day of the Dreamer Has Come

How many people do you know that don’t know how to dream?  They haven’t had a dream in a very long time!  I was one of those people a few short years ago.  I just woke up, got dressed, went to work, paid my bills, did what needed to get done for the day, ate dinner, went to bed…only to rinse and repeat over and over again.  Then I discovered a new way of living, a way to live within my heart and soul and connected to my spirituality.  Once I discovered that it was safe to dream again and that I had every right to dream again…life has never been the same for me.  “We have come to know that thinking is a spiritual process, that vision and imagination preceded action and event, THAT THE DAY OF THE DREAMER HAS COME!!”  “They are the architects of greatness, their vision lies within their souls…”

To have a dream that sparks the light from within, is to breathe oxygen to the soul.  I know we were all meant to come forth and enjoy our time on Earth, to have fun, to live fully.  How do we live fully, if we are too afraid to live, to dream or to dream of a new, exciting life for ourselves.  Many people are caught up in the old ways of thinking…go to college, get a good job, work hard and have fun once you retire and have enough money.  Why not live fully, PRESENT, every day, every moment?!  Open our minds and our hearts to not only what is possible, but what we haven’t even thought of as possible yet.  I am a new person here today.  I love to dream.  Not all of my dreams have come true…not yet, but I believe in them and know that with the proper ‘works’…I will live to see all of my dreams come true.  One of my dreams is to help others gain that same realization…Dream.  Dream Big. And watch the Universe provide for you!!

Laws of the Mind

I loved reading about the 7 Laws of the Mind.  Each one is powerful.  The Law of Substitution states that we can’t think of 2 things at the same time.  This reminds me of a book that I read and always remembered, “What Happy People Know”.  In that book it states the same thing, but explains how fear and appreciation cannot exist in the brain at the same time.  If you are feeling fear, simply think of something you appreciate and feel the feelings of appreciation and soon the fear that you were feeling will subside.  I have used this practice frequently through the years.  It is nice to know that when we are thinking a thought that doesn’t feel good, we can change it all around by shifting the focus of our attention to something that makes us feel good.  Get in the habit of thinking good thoughts instead of negative ones.

I love the Law of Relaxation.  It states that a relaxed, calm state of mind is the only doorway to progress mentally.  Dr. Wayne Dyer often talks about the importance of quieting the mind.  He says our minds have over 10,000 thoughts going through them every day…the problem, he says, is that they are the same thoughts.  In quieting our mind, we are able to discover what it is that is really important in our lives.  We feel peace.  Health returns and we have access to Infinite Intelligence.  It is important to meditate daily and I find that any time I am stressed or unable to concentrate or am feeling overwhelmed…if I take the time to meditate…the symptoms subside and I feel relief.

The Law of Practice states that Perfect Practice Prevents Poor Performance.  My coaching instructor wrote an article about practice.  He said…”We are always practicing something.  If we just sit around the house all day…we are practicing that.  If we get up early, eat healthy and workout each day…we are practicing habits that will  benefit our health for years to come.  Practice doesn’t just apply to sports.  It is important in every aspect of our lives that we wish to improve or excel at.

The next law is the Law of Forgiveness.  I used to think I was doing people a favor by forgiving them, but I later discovered that it is a personal thing, meaning…it was about forgiving others so that I could release my anger or resentment and send love and good wishes their way.  It was a way of healing and opening.

I’d never heard of the next law before, Law of Dual Thought.  This law states that we can attach any feeling to any thought.  It reminds me of how in any given moment, we have a choice to choose to be happy or sad.  In every event that happens in our lives, we can think a thought that brings us joy or a thought that makes us unhappy.  We have such power between our ears!  It is powerful to know that by simply choosing a good feeling to associate with a thought…we can feel better.

Next we have the Law of Subconscious.  This is an area that not many of us have utilized much in our lives.  It contains the source of infinite power.  We can plant ideas and dreams into our subconscious mind and it will work 24/7 to make it happen.  Awesome!!

I’m sure everyone can relate to the next law:  Law of Growth.  Whatever we think about grows.  Whatever we don’t, atrophies.  I know this to be true for me.  I catch myself reverting to some negative mindtalk about what I didn’t do right in my life and pretty soon….I see many events that weren’t pleasing to me.  The contrary is also true.  As I focus on my dreams and see things around me that I enjoy and that are pleasing to me…I continue to see wonder in my life.

These Laws of the Mind shines a bright light on what is going on and makes it possible for all who learn of these laws to make wonderful progress in their own lives.  May everyone learn to let their own light’s shine and enjoy their lives to the fullest!!

The Future’s so Bright…I Gotta Wear Shades!

Remember that song?  The Future’s So Bright…I Gotta Wear Shades?  I think it came out in the late 70’s or early 80’s. I liked the song, but quite honestly, I was a high school student who didn’t really think my future looked so bright!  Today, those lyrics have quite another meaning for me.  I have been given the gift of knowing a few laws, principles and verses that have changed the way I look at my life and the world.  Like attracts like in the mental world.  We must first believe that our desire has already been fulfilled.  This isn’t new thought.  This way of thinking has been around for a very long time, but for some reason…it has taken awhile to be known across the masses.  A girlfriend and I were talking about how excited we are to be learning about these laws (Law of Attraction).  We are excited about the future and where our world is going.  “A new faith has been born..”  With this new realization, we are all empowered to create the best for ourselves and others.  ‘All that is required is an understanding of certain definite fundamental principles and their proper application.”  Truly an exciting time to be alive!  The future is so bright…you’ll need to wear shades!

You Will Find That Things You Seek Are Seeking You

Have you ever wondered why the people who talk of sickness are the ones who are sick and the ones that talk of wealth and happiness are both happy and wealthy?  I believe sickness, poverty, happiness or wealth are all a result of our individual laziness or persistence in the way we choose to think and the habits we’ve created around it. Doctors may not tell you that the disease they diagnose you with is brought about by wrong thinking, but I believe it is. I have proof in my own life…several examples, really. One was a bleeding ulcer that almost killed me years ago…the cause? Wrong thinking. Feeling helpless or sorry for myself. Feeling unable to figure life out and not knowing where to look for the answers. Again, we get to look at and realize how important it is to have something to look forward to, to be able to dream and have a definite aim in life. When we have something positive and exciting to live for and look forward to…we can train our thinking and our brain to see and believe these events happening. What I am noticing for myself through this work is that there are fewer feelings of fear and more ease and peace as I think about the life ahead of me. The more I talk about and read aloud my Definite Major Purpose (work from the book, “Think and Grow Rich”, the more I see the people and things lining up in my life. It no longer appears as a distant dream, but it lives fully within my heart and physical signs are showing up everywhere!

Think Correctly and Recreate Yourself in 11 Months

Things are shifting.  My boyfriend said to me, “Melanie, I can see a change in you.  You aren’t worrying anymore about your business and money.”  When I first heard the affirmation: “I am whole, perfect, strong, powerful, loving, harmonious and happy.”, I smiled.  I wrote it down on several pieces of paper and made sure it was visible many times throughout the day.  This affirmation put a smile on my heart and I recognized right away that it was right and true.  I’ve read many books that have said the same thing…that a negative emotion and appreciation can’t exist in the brain at the same time.    Thoughts of fear and thoughts of courage can’t exist in the brain at the same time either.  We get to choose what thoughts we entertain and dance with.  The true remedy is to substitute thoughts of worry and fear with thoughts of courage, power, self-confidence and self-reliance.  I used this thinking, the affirmation quoted above and the thought that we build ourselves over entirely every 11 months, to visualize a new me.  One who is the TRUE me.  A person who has Health, Wealth and Love.  I am living in an abundant Universe and am able to recreate myself on a cellular level to be all that I will to be.  I am successful because I freely give to others…my time, energy and resources.  The more that’s given, the more that’s received.

Surprising Discovery

Who would’ve thought that starting and continuing with a mental diet would be difficult?  I pride myself in being a positive, kind person.  I love people and believe in them.  Keeping positive good  thoughts with regards to others seems to be easy for me, however, keeping good thoughts about myself has proven to be very difficult.  Here’s what I have begun to notice in this exercise of keeping a positive mental diet.  It appears the habitual way of speaking to myself has gone unnoticed until now.  It is always that little voice that whispers words of encouragement, or not.  As I NOTICE and CHANGE the words, or substitute the words for something more supportive and loving, I am noticing that the money opportunities and the prospects view of the opportunity is changing.  First, I began to receive other business opportunities that would provide additional income while I am building my network marketing business.  Then…prospects began to get interested, began to sign up, began to tell others and all of a sudden I have a busy calendar.  Amazing how this works.  Work on the inner game, be mindful of your thoughts, be deliberate about the actions you take and have a clear purpose and plan in place.  I am excited to see what will unfold!
